Julie Small

Julie trained as a teacher in Biology and Physical Education,and followed a teaching career until she revived her interest in art,which along with an interest in the environment provides the inspiration for her subjects.Initially working in watercolour Julie now works in graphite pencil,pen and ink,and coloured pencil.

Her work has been widely exhibited at various venues in the UK and Europe,and some are also held in a number of private collections : The Shirley Sherwood Collection of Botanical Art,The Royal Horticultural Society (Lindley Library),The National Museum and Gallery of Wales and The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation (USA).

She has been awarded a Gold Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society for a series of pencil drawings and her work has also been used to help illustrate a number of books on botanical art.
